SOIL SISTERS ~ A Celebration of WI Farms & Rural Life

July 31 - August 2, 2015

Three days.  Five unique components from which to choose.  Twenty-five women-owned farms.  SOIL SISTERS celebrates Wisconsin's family farms and rural life in and around the farming communities of Monroe and Brodhead, Wisconsin, over the first weekend of August, 2015.

Starting on July 31 and running through August 2, 2015, SOIL SISTERS offers an immersive farming and culinary experience, led by women - the "soil sisters" -- committed to healthy, fresh products or farm-made, artisanal food products and other items.  Some of these soil sisters are assisted by their husbands (aka "brothers") and/or their family.  From heirloom tomatoes to emus, sheep to solar energy, bed & breakfasts to beef, the farmers and artisan food producers share a unique diversity of farm experiences showcasing the summer's bounty.

Choose from a variety of activities including Dinner on the Farm, a Taste of Place culinary event, plentiful on-farm "Green Acres" fun and educational workshops, plus area restaurants featuring "locavore" specials throughout the weekend.  Depending on the Green Acres workshop, you can milk a goat, spin some fiber, go on a hayride, learn how to ferment, or build a birdhouse, among many other hands-on activities.  Create your own farm and culinary adventure itinerary.

So, wear your sun hat, pull on your farm boots or overalls, and kick back for a relaxing time on one, or all, of the farms.  And come hungry for some farm-to-table feasts.
