In February and March, Wisconsin Farmers Union is partnering with Golden Sands RC&D to put on beginning farmer workshops in Juneau, Green Lake, and Waushara Counties, bringing in experts to speak about grazing and profitability, business management, EQIP and other cost-sharing opportunities.
As a co-owner/operator of a grazing farm, the benefits of attending workshops are to network and also receive information that I would not receive on my own farm. These are opportunities to network with other farmers as well as the educators and experts involved in Ag. It’s important for me to help other farmers succeed and right now especially, farmers have a heavy load to carry individually.
At Golden Sands RC&D, we feel it’s important to help them carry that load by offering new ideas and shared education. With this workshop, not only beginning farmer, but existing farmers too, will benefit by continuing to learn about profitability, exploring grazing, and learning about cost-sharing. All these topics are helpful for farmers who are trying to independently manage their business.
Most of the year, you are secluded from others as an independent business owner. Farmers tend to put their own personal growth second, behind all the work that needs to get done, so this is a great time to replenish themselves with great food, networking, and education.
And of course, as non-profit organizations, Golden Sands RC&D and our partners at Wisconsin Farmers Union have been mindful to keep the cost of the workshops low. At just $20 per person, we hope that everyone who wants to attend is able to come!
See you there!
