WFU Membership

We're stronger together.

Your membership empowers you to be an advocate, so together we may enhance the quality of life for family farmers and rural communities.

Becoming a member of Wisconsin Farmers Union provides access to our educational programs, leadership training, and opportunities for involvement in our grassroots, democratic process. Be heard. Get active and bring about positive change. Or join simply as a way of supporting the work we do.

Education for farmers, consumers, and rural communities is the foundation of what we focus on. We also create passionate representation to elected officials through policy development. With a look to the future, using cooperative development principles, we also host events that expose youth to the possibilities of family agriculture in Wisconsin.

Collectively, we advocate for rural communities and the family farm through our three core principles.

1

education

Our chapters host events within their local communities, fundraise for scholarships and local causes, and weigh in on our organization's direction at our annual convention. At the statewide level, WFU puts on educational webinars, panel discussions, and other events that encourage participation from farmers, consumers, and legislators.

Through the Farmers Union Camp program youth participate in enrichment programs around leadership development, cooperative career exploration, and civic engagement. Many programs take place at our WFU Kamp Kenwood in Chippewa Falls.

2

cooperation

Wisconsin Farmers Union is legally incorporated as a cooperative under Wisconsin Cooperative Statute 185 and has a long history of promoting cooperative principles and teaching others about the importance of

cooperatives. WFU was instrumental in the start-up of a number of co-ops around the state.

We promote cooperative principals in our education

programs including youth education program, camp program, and adult programs. WFU abides by

co-op laws and principles.

3

legislation

We organize members to participate in civic engagement through our annual Farm & Rural Lobby Day, National Fly-in to Washington, D.C., and testimony at state hearings.

Each December, member delegates come together to discuss and finalize the upcoming year's policy book at our annual convention. Delegates also vote in our yearly Special Orders of Business. In 2026, those orders are:

  1. Concentration in the Agriculture Industry

  2. Protection of Immigrant Rights

  3. Family Farming and Dairy Policy Reform

  4. Quality Healthcare in Wisconsin.
